New trio for MS Society Board

The MS Society SA & NT welcomed three new board members, including a previous
Director, each bringing a wealth of experience to the organisation.

Jasmin Chua and Rachel Allen, who joined the Board as casual appointments in July, were confirmed ongoing members at the Annual General Meeting in October, while Christine Umapathysivam was nominated and elected unopposed. CEO Jannine Jackson said she was thrilled to welcome back past serving Board Member Christine Umapathysivam to the team, and to introduce new members, Jasmin Chua and Rachel Allen. “Our new Board Members will guide and support us in this transformative era for the organisation, as we prepare to move into our new Wellness Centre and bring about a new era of care for people living with MS in South Australia and the Northern Territory,” Ms Jackson said.
Ms Chua who is a Principal Lawyer and Notary Public is an accomplished and well-respected senior advisor and leader with extensive experience both in Australia and abroad, covering all sectors and industries, including finance, mining, agriculture, construction, and retail. She has served on the Sydney Community
Forum Limited since 2020 and the Westminster Foundation’s Investment Committee since 2021. Ms Allen brings more than 15 years’ experience in personal injury and disability insurance and has led various operational and state-based teams. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology, Master of Business Administration and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has served as the Chair WHS Advisory Committee for St Vincent de Paul since 2021 and has been on the Board for Community Justice Services SA since May.Ms Umapathysivam, who most recently served as CEO of Cystic Fibrosis SA, returns to the Board following a prior four-year term served until December 2018, after which she commenced as
General Manager, Client and Corporate Services at the MS Society until 2021. Ms Umapathysivam has a Bachelor of Laws, and brings expertise in people management, workplace culture and general management. She also provides much valued, additional, lived-experience to the Board, providing insight into what it’s like to live with multiple sclerosis.
