Help People Like Kerry Live Their Best Life with MS
When Kerry was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) at age 58, her first reaction was relief – finally, she knew what was causing her mysterious symptoms. But that relief quickly turned to panic. She didn’t know what her future would look like.
“I think my first experience of symptoms was at the gym. I was working harder and harder, and my legs were getting more fatigued. Then one day, on a hike in Victoria, my leg muscles were screaming at me to stop. I’ve never felt that fatigued before in my life. It was totally debilitating.” – Kerry
From Fear to Empowerment
Kerry’s journey to diagnosis wasn’t straightforward. For over three years, she experienced symptoms that were misdiagnosed – overwhelming fatigue, aching feet, strange sensations in her legs like ants crawling under her skin, and eventually double vision. The uncertainty was overwhelming.
Then she received a call from Helen, one of our MS nurses. In that moment, Kerry felt calm, supported, and listened to. From there, her understanding of MS grew, and she began to feel empowered and hopeful.

“The first point of call is always reaching out to the MS Society.” – Kerry
A Life Redefined, Not Limited
Kerry’s story isn’t just about surviving with MS – it’s about rediscovering life’s possibilities. One of her most uplifting moments came when she performed in Mass Movement, a dance event bringing together over 1,000 dancers of all ages and abilities.
Having danced since age 11, Kerry thought performing would no longer be possible after her diagnosis. But with the right support and community, she proved herself wrong.
“For anyone that’s seen Rocky, it was like standing at the top of those steps and holding my hands up and cheering – I DID IT!” – Kerry
