People living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neurological conditions in regional South Australia will soon have better access to specialist care thanks to the new MS Telehealth Outreach Program 2025-26.
This innovative program uses telehealth and videoconferencing to connect people in the Limestone Coast, Yorke Peninsula, and Northern regions with the specialist team at the MS Society Wellness Centre in Kilkenny, Adelaide.
For many regional clients, specialist support has only been available over the phone. Now, with this program, around 202 people will be able to access care online over the next 18 months, making it easier to get the right help when they need it.
The program will provide:
- Tablets and internet support so people can connect with health professionals.
- Digital skills training to help people feel confident using telehealth.
- MS Education sessions for clients and local health teams.
- Opportunities for the MS Society to liaise directly with regional GP practices face to face and by telehealth.
The project is funded by Country SA Primary Health Network (PHN), and includes a research partnership with the University of Adelaide, to measure the program’s impact and benefits.
By combining local health care with specialist support through technology, this program will make a real difference for people living with MS in regional communities, helping them stay connected, supported, and healthier.
